IT Field Technician

PTS Advance is looking for an IT Field Technician who will be responsible for supporting a territory of retail stores in El Paso, TX for a 6-month contract with possible extension. 
 
This person will be working remotely to try and resolve IT issues that may arise from client’s retail stores. However, if the issue cannot be resolved remotely this person will be responsible for dispatching themselves to the retail locations to provide hands on support. They will also be doing some remote support for client’s refineries and some corporate tickets. Some travel to non-local locations may be required (up to 15%).
 
This person will be handling inventory of hardware as well as onsite and remote troubleshooting of retail equipment. 
 
Lastly, this person will need to be available for on-call rotation every third weekend.  
 
General Responsibilities: 
  • Providing exemplary customer service support to the stores and corporate users 
  • Troubleshooting and solving hardware and software issues (workstations, printers, scanners, etc.) 
  • Replace / repair hardware onsite 
  • Track inventory of equipment in the stores 
  • Ship damaged and non-working equipment in for repair 
  • Respond to calls and service requests 
  • Log all call activity 
  • Be on-call for your market area 
  • Produce timely and detailed service reports 
  • Support all company procedures and protocols 
  • Collaborate with technical team and share information across the organization 
  • Complete other projects as designated 
 
Must-haves 
  • 1+ years’ experience working within IT in a support or helpdesk capacity
  • 1+ years’ experience working with cabling, more specifically Cat5 cables 
  • 1+ years’ experience working with networking such as connectivity, IP address, trace cabling experience 
  • Ability to travel onsite if certain task cannot be completed remotely 
  • Possess a valid TX DL and proof of insurance, as directed by corporate policy 
  • Excellent problem-solving capability 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Proficient knowledge of Windows software and systems 
  • Manage time and tasks with minimal supervision 
  • Positive, customer-friendly attitude with the ability to collaborate in a team environment 
  • Ability to participate in shift/on call rotation 
  • Strong customer service
  • Ability to remain calm in high stress situations and under pressure
  • Well-kept appearance and professional
