Job: Structural Design Technician

Location: Portland, Oregon

Role: Our client, a leading global engineering consultancy, is seeking to hire a Structural Design Technician in Portland, Oregon. This is a long-term contract position with a high likelihood of becoming a permanent role. You will be a part of a fast-paced team collaborating with engineers and designers, while focusing on providing structural requirements through 2D paper deliverables. You can expect to work closely with clients and partners as you develop concepts and coordinate designs. Our client is looking for someone with a go getter attitude. Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Create conceptual plans based on verbal directions or detailed sketches
  • Coordinate work with related disciplines to resolve problems and avoid clashes
  • Provide structural requirements for installing tools used to manufacture semiconductor wafers, including designing pedestals, equipment anchorage, and utility supports 
  • Focus on quality, checking your own work to ensure conformance with established structural standards, project standards, and project delivery processes
  • Take complete ownership of their portion of the structural scope, reliably working to meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements 

Required Qualifications

  • Must have at least 1 year of AutoCAD design experience or college coursework on AutoCAD
  • Needs to display excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as having strong interpersonal  skills
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • May be required to perform field walks. Not often needed, but should be able to climb ladders, crawl under raised access floor, or walk/stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be willing to support work for/in other offices if necessary (possibly including Temporary Duty Assignments) 
  • Should be self-motivated. You are responsible for managing your own workload and you will be given as much responsibility as you are willing to take

Preferred Skills
  • 1 year of Revit experience
  • Experience with traditional steel and concrete structures 
  • Semi-conductor industrial or general industrial facilities experience is a plus 
  • Knowledge of Navisworks and Bluebeam 
  • Associates Degree in Computer Aided Drafting or equivalent
