 Position Summary: The Production Manager is a development position intended to grow into a future site General Manager in Reno or a future location. Position will rotate through several assignments to learn  HSE processes, Engineering, Construction Management, Feedstock Processing Facility (FPF) and Biorefinery Operations, Plant Reliability and Maintenance processes, and Purchasing. 
Responsibilities: 
 Champions and models a safety-first environment by positively driving the Operations and Maintenance team"s safety culture through training, addressing safety issues, and building strong employee safety attitudes. 
 Learns the Sierra Values and evolves to exemplify those values to all team members. 
 Meets or exceeds federal, state, local, corporate and industry standards in health, safety and environmental, (HSE) and quality performance. 
 Works with HSE, Operations and Reliability and Maintenance teams to support and maintain an OSHA compliant Process Safety Management (PSM) framework and workplace. 
 Participates, develops, and improves HSE, Operational and Maintenance training programs and standard operating procedures for the Sierra Plant. 
 Learns to lead the FPF and Biorefinery Operations team as well as Reliability and Maintenance team in responsible, reliable, and cost-effective operations. 
 Develops and improves long-term operational and maintenance strategies by establishing and improving policies and procedures to achieve business plan goals. 
 Develops and supports development of annual business plans (health, safety, environmental, quality, personnel, financial, etc.) in alignment with short and long-term corporate objectives. 
 Supports and leads execution of rapid actions to resolve and improve plant operations and maintenance based on incident reports, KPI results, and continuous improvement ideas. 
 Works with the Engineering, Construction Management and Reliability and Maintenance Teams to develop and execute engineered solutions to resolve, design, installation, Operational and Maintenance issues. 
 Works with Purchasing Manager to improve the base of qualified vendors to source materials and perform work as needed and to ensure resources are available on short notice. 
 Develops teams through the establishment of goals. Provides coaching and mentoring through informal as well as the formal performance review process to effectively communicate and manage employee performance. 
 Supports an environment of self-development and self-direction for the workforce through coaching and training on process knowledge, skills and techniques to provide organizational strength and individual growth within the Sierra organization. 
 Responsible for assuring compliance with company policies, rules and guidelines and that they are administered in a fair and consistent manner. Involved with and assists Human Resources with select employee issues. 
 Instills pride in work at the Sierra facilities and by maintaining high facility housekeeping standards. 
 Works in an effective and cross-functional manner with all members of the Sierra leadership team. 
 Interfaces with the stakeholders in the community and Investors and promote good corporate citizenship. 
 Performs other duties as assigned to ensure the overall success of Sierra. 
 
Qualification Requirements: 
 10+ years of experience in refinery/chemical processing plant(s) including 5 years of experience in senior supervisory/management position. 
 B.S. Degree in a technical discipline, preferably Engineering. Additional years of experience may be acceptable in lieu of an engineering degree. 
 Strong working knowledge of Process Safety Management and Mechanical Integrity principles. 
 Demonstrated abilities in successfully leading change management. 
 Successful completion of a post-contingent offer medical examination to ensure the physical requirements (listed below) necessary for the safe operation of Sierra or job-related as consistent with business necessity, as allowed by federal and state law, can be performed without endangering the health and safety of themselves or others. 
 Client has made the determination that the performance of the essential functions of this position has safety-related implications. As a result, the position requires successful completion of a post-contingent offer drug and alcohol test and is subject to Drug and Alcohol Policy.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: 
 Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as a professional and courteous attitude. Ability to prepare accurate and reliable reports using both technical and non-technical language. Ability to maintain detailed, complete and accurate records. 
 Ability to effectively operate computers using program applications appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities. 
 Ability to organize projects, accomplish tasks and meet deadlines. 
 Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and management skills. 
 
Working Conditions: 
 Regular exposure to variable weather conditions. Occasional exposure to occupational risks including hazardous chemicals, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and heavy equipment operations. 
 Ability to work off shift, weekends or holidays as required to support plant upsets, planned and unplanned downtime conditions. 
 
Physical Requirements: 
 Job conditions may routinely require standing, climbing ladders, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking and hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping. 
 Job duties may routinely require climbing ladders and/or stairs to over 200 ft. and working in elevated locations. 
 Job duties may routinely require working in enclosed/confined spaces. 
 Job duties may routinely require performing strenuous physical activity while wearing personal protective equipment. 
 Ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles. 
 Must be able to comply with respirator protection program.
