Instrumentation/ Electrical Technician
Our client is a Southern California-based renewable energy company with the principle that renewable fuels should come from non-food based sources that are environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable.
The Company is upgrading and modifying an existing oil refinery to produce renewable diesel fuel, propane, and naphtha from sustainable low carbon feedstocks for the California Clean Energy fuel market (the “Project”).
They are looking for Instrumentation/ Electrical Technician to be part of the maintenance team installing and maintaining electrical, instrumentation and analytical equipment and accessories throughout the refinery. This position's primary function is to support current daily plant operations for instrumentation and analyzer maintenance in support of operations and environmental compliance.
Electrical maintenance support is anticipated along with supporting maintenance, construction, pre-commissioning and start up activities for the conversion of the facility to produce renewable fuels. Post start up maintenance for instrumentation, and analyzers to support a safe, and environmentally compliant operation in accordance with procedures and objectives.

Instrumentation/ Electrical Technician will also be responsible for:
        Perform work activities in a safe and environmentally sound manner
        Additional duties as assigned
        Maintain and repair electronic and pneumatic instrumentation. 
        Possess an advanced knowledge of instrumentation math, units, variables, and dimensions of measurement. 
        Demonstrate knowledge of flow, pressure, temperature, level instrumentation, and control power systems. 
        Maintain and troubleshoot various types of switches, meters, indicators, temperature sensors, positioners, controllers, control valves, and DCS loops.
        Familiar with Honeywell or similar DCS controls, analytical monitors for CEM (Continuous Emission Monitoring)
        Working knowledge of control valves; MOV
        Remove and repair; install and calibrate various transmitters and hart communication
        Use test equipment and perform routine calibrations. Maintain various instrumentation loops
        Demonstrate ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, and wiring schematics.
        Plan and coordinate work following appropriate work orders, work permits, and safety instructions.
        Ability to work with construction contractor’s instrumentation activities including installation, inspections, precommissioning / commissioning and start up. 
        Perform work activities in a safe and environmentally sound manner
        Additional duties as assigned
Required Experience:
        Five (5) - 10 years’ experience in Oil and Gas industry environment performing instrument technician tasks
        Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
        Must be able to pass pre-employment background screening and drug screen
        Good verbal and written communication skills
        High school / GED minimum; Associates degree or higher
        IBEW or trade school in electrical / instrumentation certification
        Must be able to respond to callouts as necessary to support plant operations including evenings,
*Must be able to pass all CA safety, drug & alcohol requirements for refinery work
Preferred Experience/Characteristics:
        Knowledge of field instrumentation and analyzers
        Working knowledge of CEMS, PLCs and Honeywell DCS experience a plus
        Working knowledge of electrical high, mid and low voltage as well as VFD Motor Control, Soft Start, etc.
        5 years in heavy industrial environment performing instrument technician tasks
        2 year technical degree and/or certified in all types of instrumentation and DCS system
        Experience in analyzer equipment is a plus
        Knowledge of petrochemical plant environment
        Knowledge of industrial permitting applications (safe work, hot work, etc.)
        Basic computer skills
        Able to work in a team environment
        Excellent interpersonal communication skills
