Engineer, Pressure Equipment Integrity (PEI)
Our client was founded with the principle that renewable fuels should come from non-food based sources that are environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable.
The Company is upgrading and modifying an existing oil refinery to produce renewable diesel fuel, propane, and naphtha from sustainable low carbon feedstocks for the California Clean Energy fuel market (the “Project”).
 
They are looking for Pressure Equipment Integrity (PEI) Engineer to provide technical support and leadership in pressure equipment engineering support to the project and ongoing operations of the facilty by working closely in a team environment. The Engineer will provide pressure equipment integrity technical assurance for refinery static equipment, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers (fired and unfired), tanks, relief devices, and piping systems.

The (PEI) Engineer will also be responsible to:
·         Assure that pressure equipment and piping is maintained, inspected, and/or fabricated in a manner that provides pressure integrity and reliability
·         Understand current operating conditions and long term equipment integrity concerns in order to meet the above
·         Assure compliance with pressure equipment regulatory requirements and applicable industry and company codes, standards, and recommended practices
·         ASME B31.3, Section VIII, PCC-1
·         API 510, 570, 653, 579, 571
·         Applicable ASTM standards
·         TEMA
·         Optimize the Equipment Integrity (EI) work process and work to further imbed the work process and improve linkage to other work processes at the site
·         Provide both Pressure Equipment Integrity AND site production reliability support in regard to Pressure Equipment
·         Provide advice/input/direction regarding pressure equipment design and or modifications
·         Review of Equipment rating calculations, design drawings, pipe stress analysis, and equipment data sheets
·         Support Management of Change (MOC) evaluations
·         Assess equipment and piping systems in regard to fitness for service
·         Support and/or lead causal investigations
·         Assist in defining Turnaround work scope
·         Develop a thorough understanding of applicable Internal and External design specifications, codes, standards, DEP, etc.
·         Provide Turnaround support during outages
·         Perform minimum thickness calculations on pressure vessels and piping
·         Conduct piping stress analysis (Caesar) and ASME Section VIII Div 1 design calculations (PVelite)
·         Network with other PEI Engineers or professional organizations to learn from others, share location experiences, and best practices
·         Participate in the planning of PEI department activities, development and execution of department goals, and the development, review, and updating of department procedures and site instructions
 
Required experience:
·         Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
·         Bachelors degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical or Materials
·         5+ years of engineering experience in a "run and maintain" manufacturing site with exposure to pressure equipment design and fabrication
·         Refinery or petrochemical industry is highly preferred
·         Working knowledge of API inspection codes (API 510/570/653) is preferred though certification is not required
·         Computer proficiency with emphasis on use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and be familiar with or able to learn computer programs unique to PEI, such as PV Elite, Caesar Pipe Stress analysis, and Signal for FFS
·         Awareness of welding, inspection, and NDE (Non-Destructive Examination) methods
·         Self-starter who can set own goals and direction with minimal supervision
·         Capable of handling multiple assignments concurrently
·         Ability to work independently and in a team environment with high initiative and strong organization and communication skills
·         Physical capability to climb ladders/scaffolds and enter confined spaces during outages to evaluate Fitness For Service
 
Must be able to pass all CA safety, drug & alcohol requirements for refinery work
