Mechanical Engineer - Refinery

We anticipate a widespread need for mid-level Mechanical Engineers with a fair amount of previous downstream experience. General Role Summary:
  • 5-10 years minimum in a Mechanical Engineering role with heavy focus in Refining and/or Petrochemical setting.
  • Texas P.E. preferred but not required.
  • In this role you will work primarily on an individual basis, but also need to function well on project teams.
  • May be required to mentor and develop engineers with less experience will be a priority for this position.
 
Responsibilities will include: 
  • Apply and review API 579 Level 1, 2 and 3 fitness-for-service assessments
  • Perform stress analysis and mechanical design of various components including pressure vessels and mechanical parts
  • Perform stress analysis using strain gauge data and computational methods
  • Visit client facilities to examine client-identified problems and to support business development
  • Prepare and review technical reports and proposals
  • Contribute to the growth of the company by participation in technical associations and preparation of papers/presentations
  • Focus on refining, chemical, plant equipment, and other larger engineering consulting opportunities
Requirements: 
  • MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience as a practicing engineer (required)
  • Experience at a major oil company or consulting firm working in refineries or chemical plants (preferred)
  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure or the ability to become registered
  • Knowledge and experience with API 510, 570, 579, 580, and 653, NACE, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes, NDE methods (preferred)
  • Must be willing and able to travel on occasion and work in a variety of environments (required)
