The Purchasing Assistant 
Location: Geismar, La
Duration: 6 months could go longer

Turnaround is a contract position hired to work under client's technical direction, policies, and procedures.

Role Description:
Position assists with the procurement of goods and services.

Job Responsibilities:
o Verify procurement activities are handled in a professional and ethical manner and the confidentiality of commercial information is maintained
o Execute the Request for Quotation process for the acquisition of goods and services in accordance with Company procedures
o Assist the Turnaround Buyer in carrying out full cycle vendor administration including coordination of the vendor qualification process through completion of vendor feedback
o Assist the Turnaround Buyer in reporting Key Performance Metrics
o Asist in mitigating bank fraud potential by reporting any payment or contact change requests to the Purchasing Coordinator and Financial Accounting Supervisor
o Track the progress on purchasing activities
o Work on special projects as delegated including putting together presentations, documenting work instructions, analyzing data, creating reports, helping WH with non-stock item creation, etc.
o Expedite goods and services required for company activities
o Work with vendors to negotiate costs of rushed shipments
o Coordinate with Procurement, warehouse, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure on-time status of goods/services is achieved
o Issue Purchase Orders as delegated
o Maintain up to date records to track shipments, movement of material, expediting costs, needs of stakeholder, and deadlines
o Work with warehouse and vendors to resolve quality discrepancies on materials received
o Perform vendor invoice audits in Atom and report any discrepancies to finance team stakeholders
o Assist buyers with the RFP process as needed
o Maintain document management as needed
o Maintain current knowledge of Maximo and related work processes to ensure customer and supplier compliance

Qualifications & Skills for Success:
* High School Diploma or equivalent required
* Certificate or Associate's Degree in Business Management or related discipline, or equivalent preferred
* Minimum of 1-2 years of procurement or related experience
* Intermediate Microsoft Office skills including proficiency in Word and Excel
* Experience or exposure to computerized procurement management systems
* Experience in Maximo would be a plus
